Currently due to the pandemic I am on reduced work hours and pay. With retrenchment going forward shortly, can the company calculate severance pay for years of service on my current reduced salary? can they also pay notice pay and leave pay on the current reduced salary?
I would advise that the severance should be connected to what we would call your usual salary/ wages and that would be based on the pre-lockdown rate rather than the current rate as that is meant to be temporary.
I would submit that the same would be true of the Notice and any other payments such as leave days.
