Good day
I wish to know how legally binding are internal company policies?
Our recruitment policy at a Medical Laboratories states that
"All former employees that are re-employed by Lancet must be started on the salary at which they left the company on."
Im my case I resigned from the company in October of 2018 and was first re-employed on a temporary basis from July 2019 to September 2019. I signed my permanent contract in October 2019.
The position title changed from Student Laboratory Assistant to Admin Receiver but my function, job grade, place of work and hours of work have not changed.
I only became aware of this policy on Wednesday 4th of March 2020.
So how binding is this clause in the policy as I am currently working for almost half my previous salary.
I have already contacted the HR consultant and was told since I accepted the offer there is no course of action. Is this true since they were aware of this policy why did they not follow it and can i take any action?
Regards
Bruce
