I was dismissed on 29 July 2010 ... To make along story short, I appealed, and was re-instated and went back to work on 31 August 2010. It was said that I would be re-instated with full back pay & no loss to benefits or income. However when I was dismissed, they decided to give me a months notice pay, after initially saying that there would be no notice pay. My question is, am I entitled to receive a salary for the period that I was at home, while the appeal was pending? (the month of august).
I was then told that I was already paid for August ie. the notice pay that was paid to me.
Please advise.
Thank You

hi there

surely you cannot expect to be paid double that of your salary for sitting at home for that month? the notice pay, is that equal to your normal salary? if so, I wouldn't complain and be happy and go back to work, and executing your duties to the best of your abilities to avoid any further disturbanes or nuisances to that of your relationship with your employer.

if however, you still feel aggrieved, you amy approach the department of labour and the ccma!!
