Is there a way of checking if there is a warrant or investigation?

Basically, all that I want to know is:

Is there a way of determining whether there is currently a warrant out for your arrest?

Also, is there a way of finding out whether you are being investigated for a crime?

I have even tried calling Legal Aid and they just gave me an, "eish, we don't know, you must talk to the police".

 

If anyone has an idea of how this info might be obtained it would be much appreciated.
