Good morning,Am working for a telecommunication company and I was placed on standby to transport TAC team from another department in our company during lockdown.my normal working hours are from 7am to 4pm Monday to Friday ,but during this lockdown I was placed on standby working from 5 am to 7am in the morning and from 5pm to 8pm in the evening. They are offering me R1500 standby allowance per week and I don't claim overtime for weekends and public holidays.so kindly advice me if they are paying me correctly or they are robbing me.
Is standby allowance a fixed amount? there's no overtime for weekends and public holidays during standby?how much is standby allowance according to labour law , when working as Driver for a telecommunication company?
Could you refer this matter to the department of labour, the department will have do an investigation into this matter.
The CCMA can hear these claims if you feel that you were entitled to a benefit or salary amount. It would be unwise to give you advise without looking at your contract of employment or appointment letter. I will need to have a better understanding your working schedule and if you get paid in shifts and how much you get paid.
I would recommend you approach the department of labour first.
