I need a little advise as to what choices I have.
I went for a interview in Jan 2018 and was offered the job. I resigned from my current job and worked my 30 day notice.
Two days before I had to start working at the new company I was informed there is a retrenchment process in place so when I start I will too be given notice
Is there any way to hold them accountable for now loss of income. They bridged on the contract of employment and now I am unemployed

when it come to retrenchment, the selection criteria is usually last in first out. this is generally accepted by most adjudicatory bodies an the most fair selection criteria.
I would therefore consult a labour law attorney personally in this regard should you have any additional information.
