What is the difference between CCMA and bargaining councils. At the local government sector we are told about the Local Government Bargaing Council . I am confused by their powers and responsibilities in terms of referring labour cases. Please advice

They are essentially the same. A bargaining council performs the same function as the CCMA for certain sectors of the work force. The awards made by a bargaining council are binding and have the full force of law.
