I work in South Africa and my employer has informed me that the days I take to go to my antenatal check ups (scans etc) will be taken off my annual leave. Is this legal and correct to do? As I am 32 weeks pregnant and considered a high risk pregnancy, I have to go for bi-weekly check ups and eventually weekly check ups, which will amount to a lot of my annual leave being used.

when it comes to labour matters relating to pregnant, the pregnant individual is usually the one with the stronger rights. i believe that your employer is playing a dangerous game and would advise that you consult an attorney immediately.
