Legal claim for damages by employer

Good day to you, Just a quick question with regards to "legal claim for damages by an employer". I've started employment with a new employer on the 1st of February 2017. Due to unfulfilled promises (breach in contract) by the new employer I subsequently resigned from the new employer on the 21st of February 2017, giving the minimum required notice period of one week. A few days later I was informed by management that the notice period is one month, and it turns out that contractually it is indeed the case. The employment contract that I had signed stipulates a one month notice period. It also turns out that the new employer has two dates affecting a resignation. The fist date, "last day in office" and the second, "contractual end date". So... my last day in the office will be on the 28th of February 2017 and my contractual end date is the 21st of March 2017. As a result of these dates, the new employer will be paying me my salary in my notice period up until the 21st of March 2017 for sitting at home. The problems is... I'm meant to start employment with my previous employer on the 1st of March 2017, this date is in my notice period. The question: "What legal claim for damages other than the salary that is going to be paid to me in my notice period by my current/new employer would my urrent/new employer have if I commence employment on the 1st of March 2017 with my previous employer?" Kind regards,
