hi, today I got a my first .final and only warning. I work as customer service call centre agent answering incoming calls on the 18th I received a call and the customer gave me a reference number which I used to check the customer's query because I was not given training with that particular system ,I told the customer that we where working on they query believing that the person who spoke to her first had sent the query to be resolved somehow they have missed one digit of the customer's number which meant that the query was not resolved on time .I when the customer called again the next agent was not able to assist them....my question is with out training is a final written warning appropriate and when I ask for training m told I just need to ask for help when ever there's a customer .They still want me to work with out training

You can refer the dispute over the fairness of the disciplinary action as an unfair labour practice (or for that matter, the unfair labour practice relating to training) to the CCMA. However, if the reason they cite for a potential dismissal further down the road is one of poor work performance, your employer will have to show that they took steps to improve your performance, which would be in the form of training in most cases. Should they not be able to prove that they have taken steps to train you, they cannot fairly dismiss you.
