No Contract and non payment of wages

Good day,

My daughter wrote matric last year and found employment at Claims Refurbishers, a small business, and the agreed wage was R1000.00 per week, payable on a Friday.

She spent two weeks training in December, which was unpaid, not even a stipend for transport.

She commenced work on 4th January 2016 and was paid on 11th.  She continued working and as not paid on Friday 15th January.  The employer had told her to work on the Saturday 16th.

The employer was asked for a contract to be signed several times, which was never done.

The employer was advised that due to non payment and no contract the employee would not be returning to work.

Payment has been requested from the employer.  To- date no payment has been received.

Good day

Any non payment of remuneration owed should be directed to the Labour Department as a complain. They will send an investigation officer to the company who pending the completion of their investigation will have a compliance order made out, compelling the employer to pay over the remuneration owed.
