Good day

I am a Mechanical Charge hand in the Engineering Devision doing contract work on a mine

our working hours start a 5:15am and we depart from work at 16:00pm we are only alowed to

book 9 hours of normal time per day.

We get paid overtime after we have a total of 195 hours for the month worked,

We dont get paid for the time that we are still underground waiting for the cage that start pulling shift at 15:15

We get an long weekend once a month from the Thursday to the next Tuesday, but we work 2 Saterdays in for the weekend.

We are not alowed any lunch or tea breaks during the day and are at work for 11 hours with out any breaks.

Is there anything we can mention to management to correct our hours and are we to be paid the extra 30 min we use after shift for showering?

Thank you

I see this often, before I am going to answer you, which may get confusing, let us first establish the facts here, do you earn above R 206 000.00 a year? Please exclude overtime payments, thus, your basic salary as it appear on your payslip, times by 12 months, does it exceed the above threshold of R 206 000.00 per year?
