I have been on contract now for 2yrs at a teaching institution. Contracts received are for 12 months at a time.  Recently we received letters stating that our contracts ends and it will not be renewed and we may apply for the same vacancy if it arises.  Previously we have not been issued these letters and our were contracts we renewed.

 

Is this unfair labour practice?

It would only be unfair if you were given a reasonable expectation that it would be renewed. That expectation would arise out of previous renewal practices or a promise made to you. Since you have been informed of non-renewal, it is unlikely that you will have a reasonable expectation.
