Please can someone advise me. I was sent a SMS while on leave to tell me that I had been suspended withoutpay and that I must attend a hearing on Monday. I have not had any more information please can someone advise me what to do. Thank you
It is absolutely vital that any internal disiplinary hearing be conducted fairly and that includes being informed of the alledged offense as well as whatever evidence will be used against you at the hearing. To simply inform you of the hearing without giving you the opportunity to prepare is grossly unfair.
Also the question arises as to whether or not the offense is serious enough to require a disciplinary hearing without any other steps first being taken, such as a verbal or written warning. However you cannot possibly answer this question since you do not know what the offense is.
First step would be to contact your companies HR manager or similar position, try and discuss the matter first with your employer first. If you belong to a union then they too will be able to assist you failing which it may be necessary to contact an attorney in your area who specialises in Labour matters.
