I am a qualified electrician employed as an trainee electrician with a salary of R5000 per month. Another person was employed by my company who is not a qualified electrician but much older than me and doing the same unsupervised job as me with a salary of R27 000. I would like to know if you can employ a qualified person who is working unsupervised as a trainee electrician or is it just a clever way to get cheap labour?
Its an employers discretion to employ who they wish and at whatever salary they wish. Unless you can prove discrimination then there is little you can do.
