I am an EFL teacher (teaching english as a foreign language) and have been working for a school in England for 6 months. However, I have not been teaching - I am a glorified admin assistant but was made to sign a contract saying I would not be able to do the same job within a 50 mile radius if I left. I have been offered a job teaching within this vicinity but my employer is adamant that I cannot take it. Does anyone know my rights please?

This website is about South African Labour Law. It is likely that your contract is subject to the laws of England.

In terms of South African Law, on the other hand, restraint of trade agreements are lawful, unless the enforcement thereof would be unreasonable.
