Our Motor Vehicle Allowance Policy stipulates that Each employee entitle to a motor vehicle allowance will be allocated an allowance according to a specific category defined in an Attached Annexure, which is linked to the employee's job requirements & position.  The Job Grades stipulated on the above mentiond Annexure is linked to your job and a specific minimum and maximum value you should receive.  My actual motor vehicle allowance I receive is not as per my Job grade, the lower level job grade motor vehicle allowance stipulate is what I receive.  In other words I do not receive the allowance allocated to the category stipulated in the Annexure as per the employee job grade, I receive an allowance which is tied to a lower job grade than mine.  How do I handle this?

The best option for all benefit related disputes is to try and attempt to resolve it internally first. This could be as simple as talking to your boss. If this doesnt work, you can make your grievance known more formally by either making use of your grievance procedures or escalating your concern. Only after you have exhausted all internal measures should you consider referring the matter to the CCMA. This is a possible unfair labour practice relating to benefits and as such the CCMA has jursidiction to hear the matter.
