I would like advice on dealing with a situation at work.

I'm a nursing sister and 2nd in charge of a private day hospital. The unit manager is located at a hospital a few km's away.

They have this unreal expectations that i must also take responsibility for patient services duties like banking. Anyways im not going to get into loads of detail. I have told them before that I do not have the time to attend to this, as they need to send their own admin personel to sort this out.

They started using a guy through an agency to assist the permanently employed guy with admin duties, but still expected me to help with banking DAILY, to which i don't get, as the nursing duties that i'm employed to do takes first priority and really consumes all my time.

So as murphy would have it money went missing. Long story short i refused to go for a polygraph test, as it bears no weight in any lawful case and well i don't have time to get to nursing admin nevermind make time to steal anything, and i don't deal directly with the money, the admin people receive it and drop it into a safe.

The agency guy they treat like he's wrapped in bubblewrap...not following procedure with him. The permanently employed guy was told if he doesnt go for the polygraph test people would see it as a sign of guilt. So he went and he passed. The admin manager the one day says to me SHE won't send me for a polygraph as i dont deal with the money directly....like its her decision to make.

Then his manager says to him in my absence the following day that i refused to do the polygraph test and that's a sign of guilt, but she will give me a second chance to go for one.

Needless to say i could spit nails I was so angry when i heard this, but then put in a grievance against her for defamation of character.

What else are my rights in this case?
