Salary dispute

I am an accounts clerk, but over the past year my duties have increased and i am doing the duties of a bookkeeper, i asked my boss for an increase, he consulted a recruitement agency to check if my salary is market related, as accounts clerk yes my salary is market related, but he refuses to see the extra duties i have, he asked me to give him a letter of motivation as to why i want an increase, i did that, but he hasnt spoken about it again, he acts like he forgot

Should i ask him again or forget about it. I am very upset and now dont even feel like working here.

This is the unfortunate case with most employers as they tend to 'forget' whatever you may have asked him / her.

My best advice is to broach the subject again and ask him / her what the decision is regarding the matter of your salary increase?

Naturally it is not something that can be forced as it is the prerogative of the employer.

In a case like this can a person refuse the extra tasks that have been assigned to them and the company does not want to pay for. That is after having discussed the increase and being refused the increase.
